The HeartMath Institute’s research has shown that generating sustained positive emotions facilitates a body-wide shift to a specific, scientifically measurable state. This state is termed psychophysiological coherence, because it is characterized by increased order and harmony in both our psychological (mental and emotional) and physiological (bodily) processes. Psychophysiological coherence is state of optimal function. Research shows that when we activate this state, our physiological systems function more efficiently, we experience greater emotional stability, and we also have increased mental clarity and improved cognitive function. Simply stated, our body and brain work better, we feel better, and we perform better.

Heart-Coherence breathing, and techniques allow us to tap into the positive emotions of the Heart and reframe how we view, handle, and feel about stressful situations. The Heartmath technologies such as the Emwave Pro or Inner balance handheld help us to practice Heart coherence rhythmic breathing. Breathing more deeply into the diaphragm teaches us how to shift from a sympathetic fight or flight stressful state into a parasympathetic rest and relaxation more peaceful state. That is the state at which we want to deal with life stressors not from a stressful reactive state. Furthermore, bringing in the positive emotions of the heart not only help to calm the nervous system and promote a healthier mind and body but helps us to increase our overall resiliency

Step 2: The somatic tapping reduces the emotional stress response allowing the brain to transform how the event was experienced, and thus the neural pathway of the old learning is transformed by the new experience.
Step 3. The repetition phase is vital as the repeated rounds serve to identify additional aspects of the issue. At no point is it suggested that tapping erases any learning or transform what actually happened. But instead, EFT sends deactivating signals to the emotional centers of the brain allowing someone to remember what happened without the distress.
